Iver Uhre Dahl
NOR
Iver Uhre Dahl (Norway 1995) began his artistic education in Oslo and continued his studies at the KABK in The Hague, where he explored sculpture in a variety of materials. Wood, a material he has had a particular affinity with since his childhood in Norway, eventually became his medium. After graduating, he devoted himself fully to wood carving.
He works with age-old, traditional woodcarving techniques, through which he has developed a visual language of his own. His subjects are recognisable, but the way he carves, enlarges or reduces them to a single form gives them an unexpected quality.
Dahl is currently pursuing a two-year master’s degree in Bergen, Norway, where he lives and works. His considerable technical skill, combined with a highly individual way of seeing, makes him a distinctive contemporary sculptor in wood.
