Jolanda Schouten
NL
JolandaSchouten is an artist from Utrecht, known for her wall-filling watercolors featuring botanical scenes. When she’s not in her studio, she prefers to work in the garden. Her passion lies in capturing nature as it is and exploring whatit produces. The diversity of flora and the changing seasons offer her an inexhaustible source of inspiration, which she transforms into heartwarming, often monumental, paintings on Thai bamboo paper.
In addition, Schouten is committed to creating inclusive connections through art, such as the community embroidery project “Let’s grow flowers not walls”: a garden tapestry inspired by the healing practice of embroidering plants. Schouten inspired vibrant Utrecht to work together on a large, inclusive garden tapestry, which has since been acquired by the Centraal Museum for its collection.
In 2020,Schouten held the exhibition “Jungle!” in the gallery, for which the nature of the street was the main source of inspiration. In February 2025, her work was atrue eye-catcher at the art fair Art on Paper. Her work is part of major public, private, and corporate collections.
