With this major exhibition, the gallery is joining the exhibition ‘Op Scherp’ in the Centraal Museum Utrecht, which is dedicated to photo and hyperrealism in painting. This is not about ‘cleverly copying’ photos. Rather the opposite: creating new images of which the photo does not exist. ‘More real than real’ is beautiful, but more real is what these artists do with it in their very own authentic way. At first glance it seems real, but with the caveat that it is more interesting than that.
