All the Space — Summer Exhibition

Our summer exhibition is about to begin. We invite you to the opening on Saturday, June 6 at 16:30 of Alle Ruimte ('All the Space'). An exhibition about space in relation to buildings. Joost Hutjes focuses on the exterior, while Michiel Kluiters explores the interior. What makes this pairing unique is that both artists work with scale models. And where one artist enlarges things, the other makes them smaller. The results are intriguing and impressive — and above all: a joy to look at!

In the two video rooms, video work by multimedia artist
Ate von Hes will be shown. Under the title 'The Best Of Ate', we can watch and listen to the highlights of 30 years of video art by someone who was there from the very beginning.

This exhibition runs until Sunday, July 5, 2026 and can be visited on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12:00 to 17:30. Other days by appointment > info@movinggallery.nl

Michiel Kluiters

Michiel Kluiters: Parallels IV, 2020, piëzo on fine art mat paper, dibond, paneellijst, 105x85 cm

Michiel Kluiters (1971) does not make things easy for the viewer with his painterly works. They confront you with the question of what you are actually looking at. What we see appears entirely realistic, and yet there is something strange about it. The works depict space, but also give space. A room you could simply step into and do something with. Or of course not. Kluiters works with photography and self-built scale models to create spaces that feel at once familiar and uncanny.

Joost Hutjes

Joost Hutjes: Vogelenzang 3 (2026)

Joost Hutjes (1999) made an impression at his graduation from the HKU in 2024 with wooden scale models of rooftops that stood out from everything else on show. What followed was a series of apartment buildings, rendered as rhythmic forms — sculptures and patterns — with an echo of the 1960s. Where Le Corbusier meets Jan Schoonhoven, but in his own "Hutjes" way. He also featured with these works in the exhibition Stairway to ..? this spring at Kunsthal Kade in Amersfoort.

⇧ Ate von Hes: videostill uit Found Family

Alongside the exhibition All the Space, we are showing the work of Ate von Hes in our video rooms. His creations arise from spontaneous ideas and unexpected associations, sparked by things that catch his eye. He translates them into whatever medium comes to hand, always embracing the absurd. What we see is a blend of styles in which nostalgia also plays a striking role.

Terugblik Art Island

High quality combined with an exciting yet almost intimate atmosphere. That was Art Island 2026 on the Fort Island near IJmuiden. The days were sunny: a short boat ride across from this bustling coastal town where everything revolves around fish or steel. The view from the island is truly special, and the same goes for the impressive cannon fort that forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage site the Defence Line of Amsterdam. And inside: a fine selection of high-calibre art and top-tier galleries housed in the fort's cool/cold corridor system. Moving Gallery enjoyed success with Anne Schillings and Leonie Bos, but drew the most attention with the remarkable sculptures of Merlijn Toby.
