Art on Paper Amsterdam 2025

Graag nodigen we je uit voor de beurs Art on Paper Amsterdam, die volgende week plaatsvindt van 6 tot en met 9 februari in De Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. Een stuk vroeger dan vorig jaar, toen de beurs plaatsvond in mei.Kunst op papier is een van de speerpunten van onze galerie. We brengen vaak tekeningen en illustraties op papier en nemen ook deel aan internationale beurzen rond dit thema.Verderop in deze nieuwsbrief leest u hoe u vrijkaarten kunt activeren.      

We would like to invite you to the Art on Paper Amsterdam fair, which will take place next week from 6 to 9 February in De Kromhouthal in Amsterdam. That is much earlier than last year when the fair took place in May. Works on paper are one of the main focuses of our gallery. We often showcase drawings and illustrations on paper and also participate in international fairs centered around this theme.Further on in this newsletter, you will read how to activiate free tickets.

Onze kunstenaars | Our artists

Maeve van Klaveren

Voor de derde keer in successie, en niet voor niks. Met haar raadselachtige, realistisch ogende tekeningen en haar heel bijzondere techniek maakt Van Klaveren internationaal furore. Afgelopen najaar had ze een solo-expositie in Berlijn en komend voorjaar heeft ze er een in Londen. Tevens zit ze dit jaar in maar liefst twee exposities in Museum More in Gorssel. De schare liefhebbers van haar werk neemt jaarlijks toe: haar werk gaat naar alle landen in west-Europa en naar Verenigde Staten.

‍For the third time in a row, and not without reason. With her enigmatic, realistic looking drawings and unparalleled technique, Van Klaveren is making an international splash. Last fall, she had a solo exhibition in Berlin, and this coming spring, she has one in London. Additionally, she will be featured in two exhibitions at Museum More in Gorssel this year. The number of admirers of her work increases yearly: her work is being sent to all countries in Western Europe and the United States.

‍Zaida Oenema

Haar zeer nauwgezette ritmische 3D-werk, handgesneden of met soldeerbout gebrand is een lust voor het oog, en vraagt altijd om bestudering van dichtbij. Met de Nederlands/Finse Zaida Oenema waren we al succesvol op deze beurs. Nog beter ging het afgelopen jaar in Berlijn op Paper Positions. Ook zij is gewild aan de andere kant van de oceaan: jaarlijks gaan er zeker 10 werken naar de States.

Her meticulously rhythmic 3D work, either hand-cut or burned with a soldering iron, is a feast for the eyes and always demands close study. We have already been successful with Dutch-Finnish Zaida Oenema at this fair. Even better was last year in Berlin at Paper Positions. Her work is also in demand on the other side of the ocean: at least 10 pieces go to the States annually.

Jolanda Schouten

‍‍Misschien de grootste aquarellen ter wereld, misschien ook niet, maar Jolanda Schouten kan ze in elk geval maken. Maar deze kunstenaar is niet geinteresseerd in dat soort records. Wel in een geinspireerde verbeelding van de natuur. Haar werken zijn dan ook plantaardig en altijd naar de natuur. Afgelopen zomer sierden haar reusachtige aquarellen de bijzondere expositie "Spuiten en stikken" in het Centraal Museum, alwaar zij overigens ook kleurrijk  Utrecht aan het borduren wist te krijgen bij maken van een echt inclusief wandkleed. Bereikbare museumkunst in huis? Het kan. Laat u overtuigen in onze stand.

‍Perhaps the largest watercolors in the world, perhaps not, but Jolanda Schouten can create them. However, this artist is not interested in such records. She is more focused on an inspired depiction of nature. Her works are always botanical and nature-inspired. Last summer, her gigantic watercolors adorned the special exhibition "Spuiten en stikken" at the Centraal Museum, where she also managed to get colorful Utrecht involved in embroidering a truly inclusive tapestry. Accessible museum art at home? It is possible. Be convinced at our stand.

Joline Kwakkenbos‍

De verrassing van het jaar. Vanuit het ogenschijnlijk niets naar de top van de kunstwereld in Engeland. Met een achtergrond in fashion, per se beeldende kunst willen maken en je onder de vleugels weten te plaatsen van de Britse wereldster Dame Tracey Emin. Door haar gecureerd worden in exposities in Margate en Londen: Joline Kwakkenbos kreeg het voor elkaar, en natuurlijk vooral ook door haar geweldige talent. Zeer leergierig, goed kijken naar grote helden van vroeger en nu maar dan natuurlijk wèl iets nieuws maken: op deze beurs hebben we de haar tekeningen in gouache en kleurpotlood. Ze zijn prachtig.

The surprise of the year. From seemingly nowhere in The Netherlands to the top of the art world in England. With a background in fashion, a determination to create visual art, and the ability to place herself under the wings of British world star Dame Tracey Emin. Being curated by her in exhibitions in Margate and London: Joline Kwakkenbos managed it, and of course, mainly due to her incredible talent. Very eager to learn; closely observing great heroes of the past and present, and naturally creating something new: at this fair, we have her drawings in gouache and colored pencil. They are stunning.

‍Daan Rietbergen

Een hedendaagse grafische kunstenaar die het overal goed doet laat je niet thuis, zeker niet als hij steeds maar van die mooie nieuwe werken weet te maken. Na de Rietveld Academie leerde hij maximaal te presteren als grafisch ontwerper bij Studio Dumbar in Rotterdam. Dat vak verstaat hij uitstekend maar ... niks mooier dan de vrije kunst! Modernisme van nu, altijd ergens gebaseerd op letters, maar waarbij leesbaarheid niet voorop staat. In Berlijn liepen ze met hem weg en ook in New York zien ze hem al staan. Altijd de volgende stap zetten en zonder te vergeten waarmee het begon: grafity op spannende plakken!

‍A contemporary graphic artist who does well everywhere should not be kept at home, especially when he continually produces such beautiful new works. After studying at the Rietveld Academy, he learned to perform maximally as a graphic designer at Studio Dumbar in Rotterdam. He excels in this profession, but nothing is more beautiful than free art. Modernism of today, always somewhat based on letters, but where readability is not the main focus. In Berlin, they were thrilled by his work, and in New York they have already noticed him. Always taking the next step without forgetting where it all began: graffiti in exciting places

In onze Cutting Edge Booth: Hans Lemmen

Tijdens Art on Paper krijgen galerieën de kans in een Cutting Edge Booth met een solo één kunstenaar in de schijnwerpers te zetten. Tegenover onze stand maken we met trots ruimte voor Hans Lemmen: een multidisciplinaire kunstenaars-kunstenaar die ons in deze tijden van AI, HighTech en kapitalisme kan terugbrengen naar de basis: de stilte, het tijdloze, het "oer". Zijn tekeningen en schilderijen maakt hij doorgaans op papier. Een topper voor Art on Paper! We hebben een hele mooie selectie gemaakt van zijn werk van de afgelopen drie jaren.

We proudly make space across from our stand for Hans Lemmen: a multidisciplinary artist’s artist who, in these times of AI, HighTech, and capitalism, can bring us back to basics: silence, timelessness, the "primordial." His drawings and paintings are usually on paper - a perfect fit for Art on Paper! We have carefully selected a beautiful collection of his work from the past three years.

Ondertussen is de gallery tijdens dit weekend gewoon open en hebben we de ronduit prachtige, niet te missen tentoonstelling van het kunstenaarskoppel Alexandra Duprez en Jean-Pierre Le Bars, met in de videokamers de intrigerende video's van Margreet Kramer. Tot en met 16 februari.
