Max Kisman (1953) is a graphic designer, illustrator and artist, and is considered a pioneer in the field of digital design and typography. He has worked for organisations including the VPRO and the American magazine WIRED, and has designed posters, stamps, typefaces and illustrations. He also created the well-known Peace Now poster. His work is instantly recognisable: bold and clear, with a visual language in which he often reduces forms to their essence. Image and language play an equally important role.

His Dutch and Indonesian background runs as a common thread through his work. In recent years, Kisman has turned increasingly to autonomous art. His work is not limited to paper: he also creates animations, projections, sculptures and monumental murals. Exhibitions at the Centraal Museum and Wereldmuseum Amsterdam show how important this autonomous side of his work has become.

Moving Gallery has worked with Kisman for many years. He designs the gallery’s exhibition posters and had a solo exhibition there, for which he transformed the space into a Kisman world. His work has also been shown in group exhibitions and at Art on Paper Amsterdam.
