Emma van Amerongen & Elise van Staveren in “Door de Schemer”

Friday 18 April, ‘Door de Schemer‘/ Through the Twilight, opens with two young artists trained at the HKU who contrast beautifully with each other. Emma van Amerongen and Elise van Staveren have created a fascinating duo exhibition. Door de Schemer was chosen as the title for this period in which both young artists become acquainted with the different ways in which their personal experiences in this changing world can be interpreted. This choice was the main source of inspiration for their work for this exhibition and also implies a new beginning for both of them. This works in two completely different ways: where Emma van Amerongen visualizes twilight in abstract atmospheric forms, Elise van Staveren paints realistic looking fragments of cinematic images. Film is an important source of inspiration for both artists. The opening is on Friday 18 April 2025 and the exhibition can then be seen until Sunday 18 May.
